2012 Baby Lambs..

..are all baby rams! This was the first lamb born this year - a ram from our smallest ewe and ram! Here are the twins we named Fitzwilliam and Fitzpatrick.

Lambing Season..

..is so much fun!!

We are done sheering for the year! Let me just say that that is the one thing that I am not crazy about when it comes to the sheep. Everything else is wonderful.

Twins!

So late in the year, we thought lambing season was long over. This morning when Don threw out some alfalfa...one ewe did not come running. He paused to look at her and then saw a tiny tail wagging as it was feeding beneath her. As we stood and watched, another little set of ears popped up out of the grass and we saw that we had twins! Both are little ram lambs.

Usually By This Time...

.. I would have several baby lamb pictures to show ... but this year, not one of our ewes has lambed yet. I saw them breeding last Fall, but since I did not write down the dates, I am not sure when to expect them - or if those dates have already passed...so here I sit....and wait......and wonder....

Here It Comes...

Once lambing season is over, we enter my least favorite time... Sheering season. and although I am much better at this than I used to be, the thought of cutting one of my little lambs with these monster clipper blades really bothers me! I tried to clip them with a more modest blade the first year we had them and it just would not get the job done...













..so come April.. think of my little lambs and pray that I do not even pinch them!

Valentine's Day..

..was a bit sad for me, as the new owner of E.V. Hermes took delivery. Hermes is now living the good life in Arizona...and by 'good life' I mean that he will be a flock stud!
